Samsung SmartThings integrates with iHome

Now, Samsung SmartThings users can directly control iHome SmartPlugs for a more efficient smart home.

iHome announced that its SmartPlug products are now fully compatible with Samsung’s SmartThings platform and app. Samsung SmartThings users will now be able to connect their iHome SmartPlug products to the SmartThings platform to monitor, control and automate their home via the SmartThings app.

“By working with Samsung SmartThings to make our SmartPlug products compatible with their open platform, we are able to offer users affordable options for adding intelligent control and monitoring to existing fixtures and appliances within their home,” said Gary Schultz, director of business and product development at iHome.

iHome’s SmartThings-compatible products include iHome’s full line of SmartPlugs:
• ISP5 SmartPlug: capable of switching on and off lights, fans, room ACs and appliances
• ISP6 SmartPlug: capable of switching on and off lights, fans and appliances, remote-capable
• ISP8 SmartPlug: capable of switching on and off lights, fans and appliances, also allows users to monitor their energy usage, includes remote control

Samsung SmartThings users can now simply purchase iHome’s SmartPlug products and enable them work with the SmartThings app and ecosystem. They can then switch lights, fans, room ACs or other small appliances plugged into a SmartPlug on and off through the SmartThings app, as well as set automation scenarios for them.

“The key to offering a great smart home product line is making the line compatible with the industry’s most popular IoT platforms,” said Schultz. “Since announcing our first SmartPlug product last year, iHome has been working with leading IoT platform developers to ensure that our products can be integrated into smart homes running on multiple leading platforms.”

iHome’s SmartPlug products are compatible with several leading IoT platforms including Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Nest, Samsung SmartThings and Wink.
