Toronto-based ecobee recently announced Smart Security, a system that combines professionally monitored home security from RapidSOS with the company’s thermostats and sensors.
Currently, ecobee customers based in the U.S. can enable a beta version of professional monitoring via the ecobee app. ecobee says it will continue to add new features and functionality to the professional monitoring experience in the coming months. All ecobee customers across North America can sign-up for a free 2-month trial of ecobee Smart Security by visiting ecobee.com or directly through the ecobee app.
The ecobee Smart Security service was previously known as Haven.
Customers who already have an ecobee smart thermostat can upgrade to a professional monitoring system by adding ecobee’s SmartSensors for doors and windows starting at US$79.99. The company also offers a SmartCamera with voice control for US$99.99, which supports smoke alarm detection and an optional video verification feature. A Complete Smart Security plan is available for US$10 utilizing ecobee’s existing hardware. An Efficiency and Security bundle includes the sensors needed for professional monitoring and a smart thermostat for US$279.99.
