November 1, 2023  By  SP&T Staff

The Security Industry Association (SIA) recently announced that Dan Moceri, co-founder and executive chairman of Convergint, is the 2023 recipient of the George R. Lippert Memorial Award.

Convergint is a global integrator with a staff of almost 10,000 spread across 200 office locations. Prior to founding Convergint in 2001, Moceri was the president of Siemens Building Technologies Security Division for North America.

Moceri is a longtime SIA member and former SIA Board of Directors and Executive Committee member. “Moceri has been an active and involved member of the SIA Board of Directors, and while he is no longer on the board, he supports and encourages others at his company to participate in a variety of SIA activities and initiatives, including the Security Industry Compensation Study, the SIA Women in Security Forum, the Securing New Ground conference and SIA’s training programs. He has also been highly engaged in industry workforce development efforts,” noted SIA in a press release.

SIA has also named the recipient of its Progress Award, recognizing Martha Entwistle, senior manager, corporate communications, Eagle Eye Networks. The award is presented by SIA’s Women in Security Forum (WISF) “celebrating individuals who pave the way to success for women in the security industry,” according to SIA.

Entwistle has worked in the security industry since 2005, first as the editor of Security Systems News. Entwistle wrote SSN’s first “Women in Security” special report in 2010.

She was named to the 2022 SIA Women in Security Forum Power 100, and in 2013 she was honored by the Women’s Security Council as a Woman of the Year. She serves on the SIA WISF Steering Committee and is chair of the WISF Scholarship Committee.

“Promoting diversity and equity in the workplace is not only the right thing to do – it’s a business success strategy, and it’s essential to the future growth and prosperity of the security industry,” said Entwistle in a statement. “Working with industry colleagues, SIA staff and the many, many talented newcomers to the security industry on WISF initiatives is a pleasure and a privilege, and I am deeply honored to receive the 2023 Progress Award.”

Both awards will be presented at SIA Honors Night on Nov. 15.
