Burns, who originally began his career in law enforcement with the Indiana State Police, has an extensive background in the sports industry, most recently serving as vice-president of security for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium and as vice-president of security and risk management for the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage Field House prior to that.

He has also served as director of corporate security for the Indy Racing League and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500, as well as general manager of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. His career also includes stops at Uber, where he served as global head of security, New Mobility and venue management firm ASM Global.
