HID says the LaserCard acquisition strengthens its market position in the government ID market and expands its portfolio of identity authentication and government-issued credential solutions.

LaserCard’s expertise ranges from secure card design and manufacture to issuance system implementation for large-scale citizen and resident identification programs. The company’s credential constructions feature LaserCard’s highly differentiated, counterfeit resistant optical security media (OSM) and embedded hologram technology that enables reliable credential authentication with the human eye.

“We are pleased to be adding such a strong talent base and product portfolio to the HID Global family,” said HID Global president and CEO Denis Hébert.  “LaserCard shares HID’s vision to be the trusted leader in solutions for the delivery of secure identity.  Together we will offer compelling advantages as a single source for complete e-identity solutions within our joint installed base.”

“The combined HID Global and LaserCard organization delivers a unique value proposition to our customers and partners in the government-issued ID market,” said Robert T. DeVincenzi, LaserCard president. “No other company offers the same breadth of products, technologies and service capabilities to the government e-identity segment.  We now have the opportunity to accelerate our growth and diversification in this space by leveraging HID’s innovation expertise, strong market momentum and extensive global coverage.”
