SAN JOSE, Calif. — IP surveillance firm Vivotek Inc., which has been using PlateSmart Technologies’ ARES automatic license plate recognition software integration, has recently enhanced that relationship with another PlateSmart integration: Powered by PlateSmart.

“One of the benefits of Powered by PlateSmart is the ease with which it can be integrated with other business solutions,” said Webb Wang, chief technology officer, PlateSmart, in a prepared statement. “We integrated it with Vivotek’s VAST 2 video management system using a simple plug-in. Powered by PlateSmart just reads the plates, extracts the data and sends it to VAST 2, where searches and viewing can be done.”

According to the firms, Powered by PlateSmart was developed to allow providers to extend their solutions to include the vehicle data PlateSmart can provide. This includes the license plate, its jurisdiction, vehicle make, and color. Soon, Powered by PlateSmart will be able to address vehicle orientation (front, rear, or side) and type for more actionable vehicle data.

“We have had a strong and successful relationship with PlateSmart, and so we are pleased to be able to strengthen our bond even further by utilizing Powered by PlateSmart,” said David Liu, president of Vivotek USA Inc., also in a statement. “Our VAST 2 is an easy-to-use IP video management software, and integrating Powered by PlateSmart allows it to become an even stronger tool for the user.”
