The Thread Group launched its Innovation Enabler Program to provide young companies with the “opportunity to play a role in defining the connected home and beyond” through access to Thread technology and the consortium’s membership. Winners are selected quarterly, based on the creative potential of their ideas, and will receive up to 18 months of complimentary contributor-level membership to enable them to build new products using Thread technology.
Ivani will overlay its Network Presence Sensing (NPS) technology on top of the Thread Group’s flexible and secure networking protocol. By applying Ivani NPS technology to devices communicating over Thread networks, Ivani says it will enable human detection capabilities and allow connected devices to respond intelligently to human presence in both residential and commercial settings.
The human presence data produced by NPS technology may be used for autonomous lighting, security, HVAC optimization, proximity marketing and more, the company notes.
The non-profit Thread Group says it is focused on making Thread the foundation for the Internet of Things (IoT).
