Stanley Security receives GreenCircle certification for EL Series lock

STANLEY Security, a leading provider of access control and integrated security solutions, announces it has received GreenCircle’s Recycle Content Certification for the EL Series Electronic Lock. GreenCircle Certified, LLC was established in 2009 to ensure accuracy in third-party certification after encountering many unsubstantiated claims in the marketplace.

GreenCircle’s certifications offer participating companies across a broad range of industries a competitive advantage by providing specific, third-party certification of environmental claims.

STANLEY Security’s EL Series Electronic Lock – a highly affordable, easy-to-install access control system that provides upgradeability from a standalone lock to a wireless system released in April 2013 – has been awarded GreenCircle’s Recycled Content Certification. After conducting a detailed evaluation of the product and manufacturing operations, GreenCircle has verified that STANLEY Security’s EL Series Electronic Lock is comprised of at least 16% recycled content, including a 6% minimum pre-consumer content and 10% minimum post-consumer content.

GreenCircle analyzes and certifies recycled content based on the International Standards Organization’s (ISO) 14021 standard definitions of pre and post-consumer recycled content. ISO defines pre-consumer as material diverted from the waste stream during a manufacturing process excluded is the reutilization of materials such as rework, regrind or scrap generated in a process and capable of being reclaimed with the same process that generated it. ISO defines post-consumer recycled content as material generated by households or by commercial, industrial and institutional facilities in their role as end-users of the product which can no longer be used for its intended purpose.

GreenCircle certifications are recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). GreenCircle certification ensures accuracy and can be used as documentation for recycled content when submitting for LEED projects. Quantifying recycled content also allows building developers to gain LEED points if the building content has recycled material.
