Single-reader controller

Software House’s iSTAR Edge Single-Reader Controller is designed for placement above or near the door.

It can be clustered with other iSTAR models, including the iSTAR eX and iSTAR Pro, to provide peer-to-peer communication, intrusion zones, keypad commands, extended card formats, door monitoring and anti-passback.

Similar to other iSTAR Edge devices, the single-reader uses power through Ethernet (PoE). It is also designed to provide localized decision-making at each door with local cardholder storage of more than 400,000 cardholders, along with local alarm and transaction buffering.

Other key features of the iSTAR Edge Single-Reader Controller include four supervised inputs onboard; two wet/dry relay outputs with selectable lock voltage; dedicated input for fire alarm interlock; and local display to assist in start-up and diagnostics. It is also FIPS 201 compliant.
