Zebra Technologies Corp. recently launched the Zebra ZXP Series 8, a retransfer printer designed for high-security ID cards, driver’s licences, gift cards and financial cards. According to the vendor, the Zebra ZXP Series 8 produces photo-quality cards, such as smart cards, polycarbonate cards for security applications and biopolymer cards, even on uneven surfaces. The printer is available in single- and dual-sided printing configurations with a full portfolio of magnetic encoding, smart card encoding, single- and dual-sided lamination, and connectivity options. An XML-based software development kit is available to support a broad array of features and technologies, making it easier and faster to integrate the ZXP Series 8 retransfer printer with host of enterprise applications. Standard and optional features of the ZXP Series 8 retransfer printer include: magnetic stripe encoder; combination smart card contact and contactless encoders; contact station; USB or Ethernet connectivity; and security mechanical locks. HID Global has introduced the Fargo HDP5000 card identity system which includes the hardware, software and materials needed to create secure, professional ID cards with superior print quality using retransfer technology. The HDP5000 system joins HID’s suite of Fargo all-in-one systems that also includes the DTC550 and the DTC400 card printing systems.
