“The impetus for Medeco and its dedicated employees to attain ISO 14001:2004 certification was to improve the company’s global competitiveness,” says Tom Kaika, president of Medeco and ASSA ABLOY Americas High Security and Aftermarket Group. “But it also means we’re now producing better quality products while realizing increases in operational efficiency and productivity.”
“This is a landmark achievement that all of our employees can take pride in accomplishing,” adds Amanda Troise, Medeco mechanical product line manager and key implementer of Medeco’s sustainability plan. “It’s becoming more important than ever to demonstrate how Medeco as an organization is thinking about its environmental impact and we’re doing our best to lead the industry.”
ISO 14000 is a family of standards related to environmental management that exists to help organizations minimize how their operations and processes negatively affect the environment.
