Stanley Security recalls door locksets made in Taiwan
Stanley Security Solutions Taiwan has initiated a voluntary recall in the United States of certain door locksets due to a risk of entrapment in an emergency.
According to the recall notice, the latches can fail and the door cannot be unlocked from the inside, posing an entrapment risk. The firm has received four reports of the latches failing. No injuries have been reported.
The units were sold at Stanley Commercial Hardware and other lock distributor and retailers, as well as online at Amazon.com and Grainger.com from February 2016 through September 2016.
The company says the recall involves about 70,000 units of Stanley's commercial cylindrical series BMHA/ANSI Grade 1 heavy duty locksets with dead-latch components. The recalled locksets were sold under 18 different brands.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled locksets, and contact Stanley Commercial Hardware or Stanley Security Solutions Taiwan for replacements.
