Linear LLC announces that the Linear GD00Z Z-Wave Garage Door Controller has won the ESX Maximum Impact Award for Best Access Control/ID System for Gate/Door Operators. The Linear GD00Z Z-Wave Garage Door Controller integrates one of the most frequently used entry points of a house into a wireless home control system. GD00Z allows for the remote operation and open/close status of sectional garage doors. As part of the Z-Wave mesh network in the home, consumers can now turn lights on and off, unlock Z-Wave enabled door locks including the garage door, and even disarm the alarm panel. It is compatible with virtually all garage door operators in the U.S. and is UL325 compliant, meeting the safety requirements for unattended garage door operation. Linear’s garage door controller can also be set to automatically close the garage door at specific times as part of a ‘scene’ or to ensure it is always closed by a certain time of night or when the home is unattended.

Embedded with a Z-Wave smart chip that enables two-way RF communication between hundreds of other Z-Wave enabled devices, the controller works harmoniously with Linear Z-Wave lighting and security products as well as those from many other manufacturers. Once installed, the garage door can be conveniently controlled through any compatible Z-Wave certified gateway, security or automation panel. For added safety, the device provides both audible and visual warnings prior to any remotely-activated door movement in accordance with UL 325 safety requirements, adding to the standard safety features built into modern garage door openers.

“The Z-Wave Garage Door Controller has been one of our most widely anticipated products in the company’s 53-year history, so we’re very excited about the prospects it has in smart homes throughout the world,” says Linear president, Michael O’Neal. “The ESX award speaks to the progress Linear has made as a leader in home control and automation technology and making smart home convenience an easy and affordable option for the mainstream.”

A distinguished panel of judges, drawn from the leadership ranks of ESX owners/sponsors, the CSAA, and the ESA evaluate submitted products on their features and functions, and the overall benefit to end users, system integrators or a security monitoring company’s business. The ESX Maximum Impact Awards program is the first and only award program to highlight the market significance of new and recently introduced products and services and the effect they have on security integration and monitoring companies.

The wireless controller was also honored at ISC West by the Security Industry Association winning Best New Product in the Residential and Monitoring Solution category as well as honored by the Z-Wave Alliance for being Z-Wave’s 1,000th certified product, making Z-Wave the most broadly-adopted wireless protocol for home control and automation products worldwide.

The Electronic Security Expo is the only major, national trade show focused exclusively on the need of electronic security integration and monitoring companies. ESX helps security company owners, executive managers and their staff discover best practices, uncover key business and mentoring relationships and learn about both the challenges and opportunities within the industry.
