Legrand makes Red Cross contribution to aid tornado victims

August 21, 2019  By  SP&T Staff

Legrand North and Central America announced a US$55,000 contribution to the American Red Cross via its disaster-relief fundraiser.

According to the company, this is the fourth consecutive year it has sponsored the fundraiser, matching financial contributions made by its employees. Funds will be directed towards those impacted by severe weather in the American Midwest, which experienced more than 100 tornadoes this year.

“While we have been contributing to the Red Cross for several years, this storm hit close to home as Legrand has multiple facilities throughout the Midwest and two sites located within 10 miles of the epicentre of these devastating tornadoes. Legrand’s employees and facilities were spared a direct hit but the local communities have a substantial rebuilding and recovery effort ahead and we want to play a part in those recovery efforts,” said John Selldorff, president and CEO, Legrand North and Central America, in a statement.

The Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters per year.
