UTC open to splitting up its core businesses
United Technologies Corp. is reportedly mulling a break-up, according to several news articles in the business press.

A Bloomberg article from Feb. 22 reports:
The possibility of a split marks a shift for Chief Executive Officer Greg Hayes, who previously deflected questions about whether the company would split up. United Technologies becomes the latest industrial conglomerate to explore such a move after General Electric Co. said it may break out its primary businesses into publicly traded companies.
UTC’s holdings include Otis elevators and an aerospace division. Its fire and security business includes names such as Lenel, Interlogix, Chubb and Kidde.
