Panasonic Canada’s newest addition to its home surveillance line up, the HomeHawk HD Remote Home Monitoring System, can be configured as a single camera or combined with up to 16 peripheral HD camera units.

Panasonic says the system eliminates a common home monitoring security camera problem: low grade, blurry black and white video that makes it hard to effectively identify someone at night. The HomeHawk system uses Panasonic’s night-vision colour technology, which the company says produces high quality video at night.

Additionally, HomeHawk HD cameras offer HD video quality, are weather-resistant, and, using Panasonic’s built-in long-life rechargeable battery technology, are wire-free.

The company also says that the system’s front door HD camera’s super wide angle (172-degree) fully covers both door sills top to bottom, and the entire entry area left to right. All HD cameras also offer 2-way audio with built-in microphones and speakers.

According to Panasonic, alert zones can be set to minimize unwanted notifications, while still having the option to record video alerts for package deliveries to a secure Micro SD Card installed into the system’s wireless base unit. No third-party monitoring or cloud services are required with this system.

Users can use the system’s smartphone app to access the system. Panasonic has also teamed up with Google and Amazon to make it compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa, via Echo.

The system will be available at select Canadian retailers and on the Panasonic eStore in Spring 2018.
