Freedonia report highlights reasons for growth in security

Research firm The Freedonia Group released a comprehensive report on the state of the security industry during the Securing New Ground conference, held this October in New York City.

December 15, 2015  By  SP&T Staff

The report, more than 400 pages in length, provides a comprehensive overview of current and future trends in electronic security, focusing on overall growth, technological advances, the increasing urgency around cyber security, demographic trends (changes in the user and potential user population), and crime, among others. The biggest impact of crime, for example, may come from perception more than reality — increased media coverage of tragic events is affecting security spend even though actual crime is on the decline overall.

The report was commissioned by the Security Industry Association, who provided it to their members. The research is also available to other interested parties for purchase.
