Code Blue celebrates 25 years

It all started when the University of Illinois at Chicago selected Code Blue’s new signature design from several candidates for a project that involved the installation of security standards on campus. From there, the trademarked cylindrical pedestal that is now commonly known as the “Blue Light Emergency Phone” and is the standard at thousands of education, corporate, hospital, airport and municipal locations around the world was born.

From those humble beginnings, Code Blue expanded its product line from these well known rugged pedestal Help Points to wall-mounted call boxes, mass notification software, public address speakers, software systems and more.

“The evolution of Code Blue has been tremendous,” Chief Operating Officer David Cook said. “We continue to build on the tradition of our pedestal Help Points by developing advanced emergency communication solutions that will further benefit our customers and the public.”

Over the years, Code Blue has made a number of important moves to strengthen its position in the security industry and advance with the ever-changing needs of its customers. In 1997, for example, Code Blue developed its first hands-free analog emergency speakerphone, and in 2010 launched its IP line. ToolVox Media Gateway made its debut in 2009, while Blue Alert® MNS (Mass Notification System) was released in early 2013.
