Bosch has told SP&T News it will not be exhibiting at the ASIS expo in Dallas, saying it is choosing to reach customers in different ways this year, utilizing more "regional opportunities."

"We’re supporting the associations as best we can and evaluating every trade show for maximum return. We want to be as close to the customer as we can," says Norm Hoefler, Country Manager, Canada for Bosch Security Systems.

Last September Bosch was present at the ASIS conference in Anaheim with its 80 X 80 foot Big Bosch Tent Event, which was located in the Marriott hotel parking lot, off the ASIS show floor, steps away from the convention centre in Anaheim. The tent featured new product demonstrations and visitors were also offered food and beverages at the venue. It also allowed Bosch to continue to see clients and attendees beyond the exhibit hall hours.

Hoefler said Bosch will hold a special event in November, a month after the ASIS show, at the new Texas stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, which features a new state-of-the-art Bosch electro-voice sound system, said to be the largest fixed installation EV sound system in history.

Bosch has also been present at shows such as InfoComm 2010, an audiovisual show where it had a 60 X 60 both and sound demonstration room. Hoefler said ISC West, ISC Solutions and Security Canada Central remain shows Bosch will exhibit at, but noted that over the years as attendance has fluctuated at particular shows the company has evaluated each one carefully.

Siemens will also be absent from the ASIS show floor this year. Instead, it is holding customer events the first two nights of the show.
