July 9, 2024 By Neil Sutton
Established in 1984, Axis Communications is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
Axis currently has approximately 4,000 employees in 50-plus countries and is headquartered in Lund, Sweden. The company also has more than 24,000 active international partners and operates 32 Axis Experience Centers (training and demo facilities) globally, including Canadian centres in Toronto and Vancouver.
Axis introduced the world’s first network camera in 1996. Since then, Axis has launched network video System-on-Chip (the Axis Real Time Picture Encoding Chip, ARTPEC); the first video analytics in a camera (the AXIS 2120); Axis Lightfinder light-optimizing technology; Axis Zipstream video compression technology; and the AXIS Camera Application Platform (ACAP) open application edge development platform.
Axis also recently introduced Axis Cloud Connect, an open cloud-based platform.
“At Axis, we are devoted to maintaining a long-term vision and innovating technologies every day that contribute to a smarter, safer world,” said Fredrik Nilsson, vice-president, Americas, Axis, in a statement.
Nilsson and Martin Gren, co-founder and chairman, discussed some of the company’s historical highlights, along with its latest cloud technology in an interview with SP&T News during ISC West in April.
