Mission 500 is a non-profit organization led by members of the security industry with a passion to help children and communities in crisis. Founded in 2007, the originators of Mission 500 partnered with World Vision out of a shared commitment to help children around the world.

“Everyone respects the Canadian security industry’s dedication to improving the safety and security of people here in Canada,” says Neil Parekh, manager of Vision Partnerships at World Vision Canada. “It’s wonderful to see key members of the industry taking this dedication to a global level. To make the lives of kids around the world healthier and safer, and ultimately improving the security of these children’s futures.”

“Mission 500’s Security Industry Hockey Classic is a great way for Canada’s security industry to come together, lace up their skates and have some fun – all while raising money for children in need,” adds Paul Grossinger, group publisher, SP&T News and Canadian Security. “I know the industry will get behind this and look to make it an annual event.”

This initiative was created as a strategic way to promote corporate social responsibility in the industry, and to have a cause that security professionals could rally behind. World Vision and Mission 500 work in partnership in Canada, the U.S. and around the world, making it a global initiative driven by the security industry. Currently more than 70 companies and over 1,500 people are involved in Mission 500 initiatives. They have raised more than $2 million, which has gone directly to World Vision’s vital work.

Through child sponsorship and fundraising drives, Mission 500 has supported many long-term projects; for example improving the ability of communities to keep their children safe, providing clean water, helping find sustainable sources of nutritious food for communities, training and support to help parents find employment or start their own businesses and access to health care.

The tournament will be a chance for industry professionals to network, have fun and help a very important cause. Guests do not need to purchase tickets in advance, donations are welcome at the door to watch the game and for dinner following the awards ceremony.
