IoT and terror experts to open Security Canada Ottawa
The Canadian Security Association (CANASA) and SP&T News will host a special seminar held the morning of Security Canada Ottawa on June 1.

Security Canada Ottawa attendees are invited to attend the session from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the opening of the exhibit area. The session will feature two speakers: Phil Gurski, president and CEO of Borealis Threat and Risk Consulting; and John Hewie, National Security Officer at Microsoft Canada.
Gurski’s session will focus on Domestic Terror: Separating Myth from Reality. Gurski is a noted author, speaker and terrorism expert who honed his skills working as a senior strategic analyst for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) for more than 10 years. Gurski’s session will explain domestic terror threats and what the Canadian government is doing to help prevent them.
Microsoft’s John Hewie will discuss the Internet of Things, specifically “When Security Bridges Safety,” and what can happen when automated devices are subject to intrusion or manipulation.
