CANASA’s regional director for Quebec ready for challenges

Danielle Paquin officially started as regional director on May 1. Prior to Paquin, the role didn’t exist, but it was evident that CANASA needed a voice in Quebec.

“Volunteers can only do so much,” says Paquin. “Some of the files require a lot of time. These volunteers are all business people with their own businesses to deal with. Their jobs are their first responsibility. [CANASA] needed somebody who had background experience in legal and political issues and had an association management profile.”

Paquin has worked in association management for more than 15 years. She founded Hôtellerie Champêtre, a network of Quebec resorts and country inns, and has also worked with Camping Quebec, helping its members with legal issues such as zoning and environmental laws.

At CANASA, she will represent the association in the province, working with government and le Bureau de la Securite privee. She will also address internal issues such as membership recruitment and event management.

Paquin is relatively new to the security industry but is taking the time to get to know its stakeholders.

“I am visiting with board members, partners and industry leaders just to get to know what the industry is made of, what its components are and what the future challenges are. I’ve met some very interesting people who are quite knowledgeable about their field.”
