CANASA responds to accreditation criticism
CANASA executive director JF Champagne responds to Jim Brown's recent column on the Canadian Security Association's CASC program.

Self-regulation has been a hot topic in our industry for many years now and the launch of the Canadian Accredited Security Contractor (CASC) program is generating discussions and debates, which are expected with any shift in the industry. These conversations are a necessary and important part of both the adoption process and the development of new industry initiatives, such as the CASC program.
The CASC program is the first Canadian industry-regulated program of its kind and was created based on feedback from industry leaders. Self-regulation has been identified as a top priority by the member companies we work to serve, and has been a recurring topic of discussion in our industry for more than a decade. In October 2012, the CASC program became a reality, due to the hard work and dedication of Association volunteers.
As this program works to serve the industry, we welcome the opportunity to speak with others who are interested in providing feedback. Continued discussions will help guide the future of the program and play an integral role in advancing our industry.
