CANASA confers R.A. Henderson award, scholarships

The Canadian Security Association (CANASA) recently announced the winner of its R.A. Henderson Award, which recognizes a member for outstanding contributions to the security community.

This year, the award was presented to Kim Caron, director of business development for Armstrong’s National Alarm Monitoring. Caron is also a past-president of CANASA, serves on its ethics committee, is chair of its monitoring station committee and also sits on CANASA’s Prairie Regional Council.

Chris Izatt was presented with CANASA’s Outstanding Contributor Award. Izatt, senior commercial account manager and new business development for Belleville, Ont.-based Alarm Systems and Falcon Security, is currently president of CANASA’s Eastern Ontario Regional Council.

The Northern Alberta Regional Council was also recognized as CANASA’s Regional Council of the Year. The award was presented to council president Patti Jones.

CANASA also recently announced the winners of its scholarship awards, providing five students $1,000 towards their education expenses. This year’s winners are: Vikram Cheema, Laura Park, Halley Ritter, Komal Javed and Isabelle Callahan. When submitting their nomination, students are asked to provide an essay on the subject of “Electronic Security in Daily Life.” The winning essays can be read here.
