According to ADT, the acquisition strengthens the company’s range of
integrated security systems services, including design, installation,
servicing and monitoring of access control, video systems and intrusion
systems.

“FirstService Security has a reputation for quality service and an
ability to meld physical security with information technology,
providing end-users with customized, integrated systems,” said John
Koch, president of ADT North America, in a statement.

“Having the skills and technological know-how to work with today’s
information systems and networks is vital,” he said.  “FSS will expand
capabilities in this area, opening up new business opportunities in key
vertical markets such as banking and energy.”

Approximately 2,400 people at 17 offices in the U.S. and Canada are now
ADT North America employees. Reporting to Koch will be Frank Brewer,
the former chief executive officer of FSS and now head of ADT
Integrated Solutions, a newly formed division of ADT North America.

“We are pleased to be part of ADT with its strong brand recognition and
powerful marketing that will help deliver our message of high quality
service for integrated systems on a large scale,” said Brewer. “The
capabilities of our people and the technologies we have developed,
combined with ADT’s strong presence, will provide current and
prospective customers with value-added services and solutions.”

FSS brings to ADT a background as a leading security integrator with
experience in integrating commercial systems for a wide-variety of
industries and markets, including petrochemical, financial, education,
telecommunications, utilities and health care.
