Safer schools When the province of Ontario announced three years ago it was offering up cash to school boards to improve security and safety, the reaction was mixed. Parents were concerned their facilities would become locked down fortresses. Ken Mitchell leaves CANASA CANASA president Frank Pietrobono confirmed July 25 that executive director Ken Mitchell is no longer with the organization, indicating Mitchell has “chosen to pursue other opportunities.” Stanley buys Ottawa-based Xmark The Stanley Works announced July 18 it has completed the purchase of Ottawa-based Xmark Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of VeriChip Corp. for $48 million in cash.
