Honeywell has released the 7845i-GSM, which allows communication via the GSM (Global System for Mobile) network combined with the Internet. It communicates using GPRS, but automatically switches to SMS if GPRS is unavailable, and offers data reporting, uploading and downloading to most Honeywell control panels. Features include tamper protection, a built-in power supply, six input zones which can be configured for +V, -V, or EOLR triggering, web-based programming, 256-bit AES encryption, and remote services capability.

Corning Cable Systems LLC, has made available its new low-loss plug-and-play Universal System. It is a pre-terminated optical fiber cabling system designed to streamline the process of deploying an optical network infrastructure in a premises. The low-loss system, consisting of modules, trunks and extender trucks, harnesses and jumpers, features MTP to LC connector modules and harnesses with a maximum loss of 0.5 dB. The total link-loss for the complete module-trunk-module plug-and-play system is 1.0 dB.The Universal System has no special polarity components, avoiding the polarity problems caused by incorrect placement of modules and jumpers.
