New leadership at CANASA
November 23, 2011

On Oct. 19, CANASA held its Annual General Meeting on the first day of Security Canada Central. This was a day of celebration as we reflected on the successes of the past year, presented awards to our most deserving volunteers and welcome our new leaders.
The staff at CANASA regularly talks to members of the public about their security needs.

The changing of the guard
September 28, 2011

On Oct. 19 the Canadian Security Association will hold its Annual General Meeting as part of Security Canada Central Expo. While the AGM is only open to CANASA members, the expo is open to all security professionals, Oct. 19 and 20. If you are a past attendee, you know what the show is all about. But if you are not, you should know that it is the largest exhibition of electronic security products and services and the biggest gathering of security professionals in Canada. Thousands from across the country and abroad will be there.
There has been a lot written about education lately so I will continue to fuel the conversation.

It is no surprise to see such enthusiasm for more learning opportunities and better education programs in a world dominated by information overload and constant technology changes. We all know that there is much to learn but do not know quite how to go about it. Bob Moore in his column "There is always time for education" did a very good job to provide an overview of some of the new channels now available for learning.
In response to the article "CANASA needs to learn the value of education," dated June 7, 2011, the Canadian Security Association (CANASA) is disheartened to read that Mr. Spector has not accurately presented the facts surrounding our education initiatives. Ensuring our members have the most up-to-date information is of the utmost importance to our association.
It has been almost 10 years since I set to install in my home what would become a comprehensive home automation system. It integrated a home security system with lighting control, thermostat control and cameras which could be controlled using multiple keypads, keyfobs, smart light switches, remote telephone access, PC controls and even web-browser based access.
