Avigilon adds analytics expert to management team

Avigilon Corporation has announced the addition of Dr. Mahesh Saptharishi, senior vice president of analytics and data science, to the Company's executive management team, effective immediately. Dr. Saptharishi will continue to report directly to Avigilon's chief operating officer, Bryan Schmode.

Joining Avigilon in January 2014, following Avigilon's acquisition of VideoIQ Inc., Dr. Saptharishi will lead the development of Avigilon's analytics portfolio. Dr. Saptharishi has extensive experience creating intelligent video analytics solutions as well as in the development of software and camera hardware specifically for the security industry.

In his role, he is playing a key part in the integration of analytics technology into Avigilon‘s product suite.

Dr. Mahesh Saptharishi has over 17 years of experience developing intelligent video analytics technology as well as software and camera hardware specifically for the security industry. As senior vice president of analytics and data science, Dr. Saptharishi is leading Avigilon’s development of analytics technology and product strategy to maximize business intelligence capabilities and protect assets for organizations of all sizes. Prior to Avigilon, Dr. Saptharishi was president, chief technology officer and co-founder of VideoIQ, Inc. Dr. Saptharishi also co-founded and led the core analytics team at Broad Reach Technologies, Inc., where he was vice president of research & development. A highly respected thought leader in the surveillance industry, Dr. Saptharishi received his doctorate in machine learning from Carnegie Mellon University, where he was involved in research on autonomously navigating vehicles at the Robotics Institute and the Institute for Complex Engineering Systems. He has also studied the human immune system at the National Cancer Institute and has authored multiple peer reviewed scientific publications, articles and patents.
