AlarmForce names new president, CEO

AlarmForce Industries Inc. has appointed a new president and chief executive to head the home and commercial security company. Anthony Pizzonia will assume the new role on Sept. 30.

October 1, 2014  By The Canadian Press

Pizzonia, a long-time employee, has been acting as interim president and CEO for more than a year. Before that, he had been the company’s chief financial officer since 1995 and has also been a board member since 2004.

Pizzonia fills the vacancy left by AlarmForce’s high-profile CEO, Joel Matlin, who was ousted from the company in July 2013.

At the time, Matlin, who had been at the company’s helm since its inception in 1988, claimed that he was dismissed without cause or notice, which goes against the terms of his contract. He was let go following a nearly year-long strategic review by the company, which included its possible sale but ended without a deal. Analysts speculated at the time the dismissal was likely related to the company’s failure to find a buyer.

Matlin has launched a $11.3 million wrongful dismissal lawsuit. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
