Niagara College
A gun scare at Niagara College alerted the Ontario post-secondary institution that their security wasn't as tight as it could be. The campus lockdown ended without serious incident, but it gave Niagara the incentive to seriously step up its security technology. Building on an IP network, Niagara replaced outdated analogue equipment with a complete network of cameras, giving the college full coverage of both its campuses. Through the guidance of its IT and security departments, Niagara is also integrating access control into the network and is testing an alarm system that would generate alerts on the security radio system.
