Honeywell's got the Tuxedo Touch
Honeywell released the Tuxedo Touch, a touchscreen controller that combines security and lifestyle technology by allowing home and business owners to centrally control both security and automation functions such as temperature, lighting and more.
With a bright, full-colour, 7-inch display, Tuxedo Touch uses a built-in controller that communicates with devices such as thermostats, lighting controls, shades and locks via the Z-Wave communications protocol. Additionally, a built-in web server gives users the ability to control the system using Wi-Fi-enabled devices including smartphones, tablets, PCs and Internet TVs, regardless of operating system.
Tuxedo Touch is Honeywell’s latest addition to its portfolio of “connected home” products. Dealers and end users can program the system to fit individual lifestyles. For instance, the system can be programmed to set back thermostats and close shades whenever a homeowner leaves for the day. Business owners can program it to engage various lighting, locking and HVAC systems upon disarming the security when opening a store.
Besides controlling various security and environmental functions, Tuxedo Touch allows users to view local weather information, upload digital photos and videos, simultaneously view streaming feeds from up to four IP video cameras, and create and display messages for household members or employees. The device is also compatible with Honeywell’s Total Connect remote interactive service, which allows home and business owners to access their security systems from any Internet-enabled device.
